Swing into August in Niagara-on-the-Lake

While August may signal the end of summer is fast approaching, the folks in Niagara-on-the-Lake don’t let that dampen their spirits. As the Music Niagara and the Peach Festival wind down, festivals and music continue to take to the streets, parks and wineries throughout the area. August 7 to October 10: The Rocky Horror Show LIVE

Every Fridays and Saturday evening at 8 p.m., this classic cult hit returns LIVE to the stage at Corks’ Playhouse Theatre, complete with a four-piece band. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and it’s highly recommended you arrive early to find seats. Purchase your drinks at the bar right in the theatre and enjoy the pre-show! August 15 & 16: Fife and Drum Muster & Soldier’s Field Day

Fife and Drum Corps and Infantry Units from historic sites across Canada and the U.S. converge on Fort George and showcase military music and drills of the early 1800s. A special evening tattoo takes place on Saturday, August 15.

 

August 15: Diamonds in the Rough Music Festival

From 3 to 8 p.m., Diamond Estates Winery is turning their front lawn into the ultimate Saturday afternoon concert venue! Bring your own chair to this outdoor concert or pull up a bale of hay to enjoy live entertainment performed by local talent. Tickets are $10 in advance of $15 at the gate.

August 22: Niagara Craft Beer Festival

From 1 to 9 p.m., head on over to the Market at the Village at 111 Garrison Village Drive where more than 20 Ontario Craft Breweries, food trucks and local restaurants will gather to bring you live music, games and vinyl sessions. Proceeds support the Red Roof Retreat. Please note this is a 19+ event.

August 23: Car Show

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., cars will be on display at the Virgil Fire Hall located at 1391 Concession 6. The entry fee is $5 per vehicle; pedestrians walk in free. There’ll be plenty of food and refreshments, come rain or shine. For information, call 905-988-3542.

 

August 29: Peller Estates Wine Country Fare

It’s time to hoedown in the vineyards at Peller Estates from 5 to 10 p.m. at what promises to be the country fair of the season featuring more than six food trucks, a pig roast, mechanical bull rides and beautiful harvest wines. Kick off the evening with entertainment provided by the boot-stomping sounds of Leah Daniels, River Town Saints and this year’s headliner, Canadian country artist Jason Blaine. Tickets are $45 person plus tax and fees. Purchase them online or call 1-888-673-5537, ext. 2. Cowboy boots and stetsons are optional.
